Localize Your App

SimpleLocalize Alternative for Solo App Developers

If you searched for a SimpleLocalize alternative as a solo app developer, the real difference is the product shape, not a discount on the same workflow. SimpleLocalize is self-serve translation management for software teams that continuously localize web and mobile apps: a web editor, a REST API, a CLI, and webhooks, billed monthly in euros against translation-key, language, and seat limits. Localize Your App sells one-time credit packs (Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45). Credits never expire. One credit is one string, up to a character limit, into one language. It accepts .strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, and XLIFF. It is not a hosted TMS. It has no CLI, no CI/CD integration, no git sync, no pull-request review, no human translators for hire, no translation marketplace, no release-note automation, and no accuracy monitoring.

When SimpleLocalize is the better choice

SimpleLocalize is built for a real buyer: a software team that localizes as part of shipping, not as a one-off export. Credit that it publishes prices openly; many tools in this category do not. Those prices are in euros, not dollars. A reader comparing dollar-priced tools needs that stated explicitly.

Choose SimpleLocalize when you need the management layer. Concrete cases:

  • A product team of more than one person sharing the same project. Community allows 1 team member; Developer (EUR 12/month) allows 5; Team (EUR 35/month) allows 25; Business (EUR 99/month) allows 100. Localize Your App has no team seats.
  • You add and revise keys every sprint on a web app, a mobile app, or both, and you want a web editor so someone who does not live in git can edit copy.
  • You already run, or intend to run, a CLI in CI to push and pull translations. Localize Your App has no CLI and no CI/CD integration.
  • You need a REST API or webhooks when translations change. Localize Your App has neither.
  • You keep a growing key catalog inside published caps: Community 250 keys, Developer 1,000, Team 4,000, Business 12,000. Developer includes unlimited languages at EUR 12/month. Community includes 10 languages at no charge.
  • You want git-based review of translation changes. Localize Your App has no git sync and no pull-request review.
  • You want to hire human translators, use a translation marketplace, automate release notes, or monitor accuracy. Localize Your App does not offer those.

The Community plan is a genuine fit when you have at most 250 translation keys, at most 10 languages, and one team member. That is EUR 0. For that envelope, SimpleLocalize costs less than any Localize Your App pack because you are not buying credits at all, and you still get the editor, API, CLI, and webhooks inside those limits.

Developer at EUR 12/month is the better choice when you are over 250 keys or over 10 languages, you still want unlimited languages, and up to five people must work in the project. Team at EUR 35/month is the better choice when you are heading toward 4,000 keys or toward 25 members. Business at EUR 99/month is the better choice toward 12,000 keys or 100 members. In all of those cases you are paying for continuous management. Localize Your App does not replace that job.

When one-time credits fit better

One-time credits fit a solo developer who needs strings translated into file formats an app already uses, not a shared translation workspace. Typical cases: you ship an iOS, Android, Flutter, or JSON-i18n app yourself; you localize UI strings or store metadata in bursts; you do not run a translation CLI in CI; nobody else needs a web editor. Apple's App Store supports 50 metadata localizations as of 31 March 2026. That is a batch problem (screenshots, description, keywords) more than a continuously growing key catalog with seats and webhooks.

The credit rule is simple and multiplicative: 1 credit = 1 string, up to a character limit, into 1 language. Two hundred strings into one language is 200 credits. The same two hundred strings into five languages is 1,000 credits. Packs are Starter $9, Indie $25, and Studio $45. Credits never expire, so unused credits are not a monthly write-off.

Arithmetic in both directions, using only the published numbers. SimpleLocalize is priced in euros. Community is free. Developer is EUR 12/month (EUR 144 over 12 months). Team is EUR 35/month (EUR 420 over 12 months). Business is EUR 99/month (EUR 1,188 over 12 months). Localize Your App packs are one-time dollars: $9, $25, $45.

When SimpleLocalize costs less overall:

  • You fit Community (250 keys, 10 languages, 1 member). Cost is EUR 0. Any credit pack costs more than EUR 0.
  • You need the TMS features for a full year. Developer at EUR 144/year is the cost of editor, API, CLI, webhooks, 1,000 keys, unlimited languages, and 5 members. Localize Your App cannot supply those features at any pack price, so “switching” does not remove that bill if you still need them.
  • You update a stable key set into many languages on an ongoing basis. On Developer, languages are unlimited at EUR 12/month inside 1,000 keys. On credits, every extra language multiplies string count. Repeated per-string, per-language spends can exceed EUR 12/month even though a single pack is cheaper than a year of Team (EUR 420) or Business (EUR 1,188).

When credits cost less overall:

  • You do not need a TMS. You will not use a web editor, REST API, CLI, or webhooks. Then EUR 12 every month is payment for a platform you are not operating. One Starter pack is $9 once. After a single month, Developer has already billed EUR 12; after a year, EUR 144. Team is EUR 420/year; Business is EUR 1,188/year. Those yearly euro totals are larger than $9, $25, or $45 if your work is a finite batch.
  • You localize rarely (for example store metadata or a string file dump a few times a year) and you are the only operator. Credits do not expire, so a $25 or $45 pack is not tied to a calendar month. A Developer subscription is.
  • You would only be on SimpleLocalize to park files, and you are already over Community’s 250 keys or 10 languages but you still do not want seats, CLI, or webhooks. Then you are comparing EUR 12/month indefinitely with a one-time dollar pack for the strings you actually send. The pack wins on cash if the work is bounded; the subscription wins if languages and revisions keep landing every month inside 1,000 keys.

Do not treat the two price lists as the same unit. SimpleLocalize meters keys, languages (except unlimited languages on Developer), and team members per month, in euros. Localize Your App meters string × language, once, in dollars. A cheap month of Developer is still a TMS month. A $9 pack is still not a CLI, a webhook, or a second seat.

Moving between the two

What actually moves is file content. Export translation files from SimpleLocalize in a format Localize Your App accepts (.strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, XLIFF), or the other way around if you are leaving credits for a TMS. Source strings and existing translations in those files are the portable part.

What does not move: SimpleLocalize project configuration, team members, the web editor’s history, REST API keys, CLI setup, webhook endpoints, and any automation that assumed a hosted TMS. Localize Your App has no CLI, no CI/CD integration, no git sync, and no pull-request review, so those pipelines have nowhere to land. Human translator assignments, marketplace jobs, release-note automation, and accuracy monitoring also do not transfer, because Localize Your App does not provide them. Going the other way, unused credits do not become SimpleLocalize keys, languages, or seats; you start on Community, Developer, Team, or Business under that product’s euro limits.

SimpleLocalize is one of the few platforms in this market that publishes its prices openly. The tools roundup compares it against the rest, and the cost guide covers agencies and per-word services too.

Frequently asked questions

Euros. Community is free; Developer EUR 12/month; Team EUR 35/month; Business EUR 99/month. Localize Your App packs are Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45.

Does Localize Your App include a CLI, CI/CD, git sync, or pull-request review?

No. It also has no human translators for hire, translation marketplace, release-note automation, or accuracy monitoring. SimpleLocalize provides a web editor, REST API, CLI, and webhooks.

What does one Localize Your App credit buy?

One string, up to a character limit, into one language. Credits never expire. Packs are one-time: Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45.

Which file formats does Localize Your App accept?

.strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, and XLIFF. Those files are what migrate; TMS project settings and automations do not.

When is SimpleLocalize cheaper than buying credits?

On Community (250 keys, 10 languages, 1 member) at EUR 0; and whenever you need the TMS for months, e.g. Developer EUR 12/month (EUR 144/year) with 1,000 keys, unlimited languages, and 5 members. Credits are cheaper only for bounded string × language batches without that platform.
