Localize Your App

OneSky Alternative for Indie App Developers

OneSky sells translation by the word: AI from $0.005, human review from $0.04, human translation from $0.05, with no minimum order. Localize Your App sells one-time credit packs (Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45) where 1 credit is 1 string, up to a character limit, into 1 language. Credits never expire. The products are not the same job. OneSky is built to get a person (or an AI-plus-person pipeline) onto web, mobile, and game strings. Localize Your App does not offer human translators for hire at all. If you want a person to do or check the work, OneSky is the better fit, without hedging. If you want to pay once, drop in an app string file, and stop, the credit packs are the alternative this page is about.

When OneSky is the better choice

Treat this as a real fork, not a feature checklist. OneSky’s product is professional translation. Localize Your App’s product is credits against string files. Those collide only at the edges.

Choose OneSky when the copy has to be written or checked by a human. That is the honest line. Narrative in a game, onboarding that has to sound native, support articles, legal or medical or finance phrasing, brand voice across locales — those are translation jobs. OneSky prices them in the open: human translation from $0.05 per word, human review from $0.04 per word, AI from $0.005 per word, no minimum, free signup, no credit card required. You can send 80 words of a settings screen or 8,000 words of quest text and the meter is the same meter.

Concrete cases where OneSky is straightforwardly the right tool:

  • You need a native speaker to produce the strings, not a file conversion. Localize Your App cannot take that order. It has no translators, no marketplace, and no human review lane.
  • You want AI as a draft and a person to review it. That is the $0.04-per-word path on OneSky. There is no equivalent on Localize Your App.
  • The work is mixed web, mobile, and game copy under one vendor, which is how OneSky positions itself, including to small teams and startups as well as larger companies.
  • The job is small in words and you do not want a pack. One hundred words of AI on OneSky is $0.50. Four hundred words is $2. Both are below the $9 Starter pack. Human translation of 180 words is $9; of 500 words is $25; of 900 words is $45. If that volume is the whole job, paying per word with no minimum is simpler than buying credits you may not use in the same way.
  • You already run localization as purchase orders against word counts. Switching to a per-string credit does not give you linguists, and it does not give you OneSky’s AI-plus-human pipeline.

Localize Your App also does not have a CLI, CI/CD integration, git sync, pull-request review, release-note automation, or accuracy monitoring. If those are how you ship strings, this page is not a substitute for a localization platform with those hooks. Do not assume OneSky is that platform either; the comparison here is about what OneSky actually sells on its pricing page: per-word AI and human translation. Missing automation on Localize Your App is still a hard limit on this side.

When one-time credits fit better

Credits fit when you are an indie shipping UI strings in files, you will not hire a translator, and you do not want an open-ended word meter. Packs are Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45. Credits never expire. One credit equals one string into one language, up to a character limit. Accepted formats: .strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, XLIFF. Apple’s App Store supports 50 metadata localizations as of 31 March 2026; metadata and in-app strings are the usual indie surface, not a translation desk.

Arithmetic in both directions, using only the published rates.

When OneSky costs less overall. OneSky AI is $0.005 per word with no minimum. $9 buys 1,800 words of that AI. $25 buys 5,000 words. $45 buys 9,000 words. A short pass — a few hundred words — is dollars or cents on OneSky AI and cannot be cheaper than $9 on a Starter pack. Human review at $0.04 per word: $9 buys 225 words, $25 buys 625, $45 buys 1,125. Human translation at $0.05 per word: $9 buys 180 words, $25 buys 500, $45 buys 900. If what you need is “this many words, AI or human,” OneSky’s line items can undercut a pack, especially AI, especially small jobs. That is not a rounding error. It is the point of per-word pricing with no minimum.

When a pack can still be the better spend. You are not buying words. You are buying strings. A 2-word button and a longer label each cost 1 credit (within the character limit) into 1 language. You pay $9, $25, or $45 once. Nothing renews. Credits sit until you use them. That matches an indie cadence: localize a screen, ship, come back months later for a new settings pane or for another language, without opening a word-count order. It also matches App Store metadata work across many of the 50 supported localizations, where each field is a string, not a document.

What you are not buying with those packs: a person, a review, a marketplace, a CLI, CI/CD, git sync, pull-request review, release-note automation, or accuracy monitoring. If any of those are required, stop and use a vendor that sells them. OneSky is the one on this page that sells humans.

A worked comparison without invented volumes: suppose the real need is human-quality copy for roughly 2,000 words. OneSky human translation is $100 at $0.05 per word (or $80 if you only need review at $0.04). No Localize Your App pack does that work, at any price, because there is no human to hire. Suppose instead the need is AI over 2,000 words. OneSky AI is $10. That is less than Indie ($25) and Studio ($45), and $1 more than Starter ($9) — and Starter is still priced in strings, not 2,000 words. Suppose the need is an iOS/Android/Flutter string catalog you will nibble at for a year, one screen at a time, no linguist. Then the $9 / $25 / $45 packs, never expiring, in the formats above, are the thing that exists for that pattern. Do not pretend the $10 AI job and the $25 credit pack are interchangeable; they are not.

What actually moves if you switch

String files move. If you can export or save copy as .strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, or XLIFF, Localize Your App can take the file. That is the migration.

What does not move: translator assignments, human review jobs, per-word orders, and anything that lived in a translation marketplace. Localize Your App has none of those, so there is nowhere to land them. Word-count history and vendor invoices stay on OneSky; they are not credits. There is no CLI, CI/CD, git sync, or pull-request review to reconnect on this side — those integrations are not part of Localize Your App, so you are not “moving” a pipeline, you are dropping it. Release-note automation and accuracy monitoring also do not exist here. Glossaries and style guides you used with human linguists have no in-product equivalent when there are no linguists. After a switch you have files and credits, not a continuation of OneSky’s AI-plus-human service.

Going the other way is the same boundary in reverse. Credits do not become prepaid words. Unused Starter, Indie, or Studio credits do not apply to OneSky’s $0.005 / $0.04 / $0.05 rates. You export the same file types if you still have them, then you start a per-word order. Free signup on OneSky does not require a credit card; you are not converting a subscription, because this comparison is not about a OneSky monthly plan. It is about per-word translation versus one-time string credits.

Pick on the job. Person to write or check: OneSky. Pay once for string files, no humans, no platform hooks: Localize Your App. If the job is both, it is two tools, not a replacement.

If you want a human in the loop, OneSky is the straightforward choice. If you want to understand what a human pass costs against the alternatives, the cost guide has the arithmetic, and the tools roundup covers every option.

How is OneSky priced compared with the credit packs?

OneSky is per word (AI from $0.005, human review from $0.04, human translation from $0.05, no minimum). Localize Your App is one-time packs: Starter $9, Indie $25, Studio $45, credits never expire, 1 credit = 1 string into 1 language.

When is OneSky cheaper than a $9 Starter pack?

Often on word count, especially AI. 1,800 words of OneSky AI equals $9; smaller AI jobs cost less than $9. Human translation of 180 words is $9; below that, per-word human work can also cost less than Starter.

Which string formats can I migrate?

.strings, .xcstrings, strings.xml, .arb, i18n JSON, and XLIFF. Translator jobs, review queues, CLI/CI/git/PR hooks, release-note automation, and accuracy monitoring do not migrate; Localize Your App does not have them.

Can I use credits for App Store metadata?

Credits apply per string per language. Apple’s App Store supports 50 metadata localizations as of 31 March 2026. That is string work, not OneSky human translation.
